Information and data are usually just a click or swipe away from us. Yet, it is harder than ever to determine where fact begins and opinion ends. Trust matters in the days of ‘fake news’, and that’s what One 4 Leather wants to provide: a reliable knowledge hub about leather with all information, data and insights that are now lacking or hard to find in the market.

SEO accessibility and user experience first

Apart from an expansive, easy-to-use SEO structure, we made sure user experience comes first on the page itself. Accessibility is prioritized for the traffic visiting the page through search engines or using the excellent on-page navigation - you get to your next bit of information with ease. The design plays a major part too, as it needed to have a look and feel that exudes confidence, and matches the expectations of the target audience, in which the user experience is instrumental.

Content available through the platform can be thorough and in-depth, but usability should never be too complex or challenging. You have to be able to swipe or scroll easily on each smart device. Dynamic content suggestions, in turn, make sure there’s always something more to explore. That’s great news for the target audience, which also shows results in a positive increase of session time in Google Analytics.

Win-win, is what we like to call that.

How does that translate into technology?

To make all this a technical reality, we used a number of smart solutions for the One 4 Leather platform:

Isotope filters for content selection
  • Filters change your selection of content in real-time.

    That saves loading time and provides a smooth visual experience.
A fresh supply of dynamic content
  • Users of the platform don’t have to get bored ever, because after reading an article or watching a video, new relevant content is offered.
    That’s how you keep exploring!
Highlighted content and management
  • Content managers can easily highlight articles or content items in the management module. These will then show up in larger tile format, as the other items arrange around them. Easy in use, but also to help guide your visitors.
Sharing is caring
  • A platform, designed for social media needs quick ‘share’ buttons, which allows every visitor to share information with their network directly—the result: more traffic, without extra costs.

There we have it, a platform with optimal usability, easy access and effective social integration. Yet, we did not stop there. By monitoring traffic to and on the website, and tracking user behavior, we kept getting more insights:

  • Optimization lay-out
    By tracking the cursor of users (GDPR proof, no worries), we discovered that adjusting the website elements’ order could make navigation easier and user experience better. We did a big old switcheroo and the on-page time went up from around 90 seconds to 130 seconds (100 seconds is a good benchmark).

  • Increased conversion with a ‘subscribe’ pop-up
    One of the ways to measure success is the number of newsletter subscriptions. We found the conversion of the subscription page was a bit low, so we integrated a pop-up. The first month alone, the number of subscribers went up by 20%. Nice!

  • SEO optimization with smaller image sizes
    As the amount of content produced by our sister company GI increased, the website loading speed was becoming a challenge. Image files increase the data load, which impacts your SEO score. A custom compression solution gave the website a boost without loss of quality!
